Jason O’Hara has been in Rio during the entire World Cup, documenting the demonstrations for his upcoming film State of Exception. On Sunday, just before the World Cup final between Argentina and Germany, Jason was assaulted by Rio police while out filming. Sitting against a wall to change his memory card, Jason was attacked in an unprovoked incident.
His camera was destroyed by police with their batons and his GoPro was stolen in the assault. Jason was treated at the hospital in Rio for his injuries and has since been released.
